    Interactividad y contenido como factores de disfrute en las ficciones interactivas

    Se reportan las conclusiones obtenidas de una investigación experimental que tiene por objetivos: 1.- explorar la relación entre interactividad, contenido y disfrute en la recepción de ficciones interactivas; 2.- observar el vínculo del disfrute con los conceptos de entretenimiento, agrado y gratificación, y 3.- indagar sobre la relación entre disfrute e intención manifiesta de consumo posterior, voluntad de pago por visión o predicción de éxito de las ficciones interactivas en televisión. 310 participantes fueron sometidos a cuatro situaciones experimentales derivadas de la combinación entre las variables modalidad de la ficción (interactiva o no interactiva) y contenido (final feliz o trágico). Los resultados señalan que: a.- el contenido ejerce superior impacto en el disfrute de la narrativa que la interactividad; b.- los conceptos de disfrute, entretenimiento y gratificación, aunque relacionados, describen distintos aspectos de la experiencia de consumo, y 3.- el disfrute se vincula con la voluntad de consumo posteriorA report is made of the conclusions of an experimental research whose objectives are: 1.- to explore the relationship between interactivity, content and enjoyment; 2.- to observe the relationship between enjoyment and the concepts of entertainment, pleasure and gratification, and 3.- to find out whether there is a relationship between enjoyment and the manifest intention of posterior consumption, the desire to pay per view and the success forecast of such fiction on television. 310 participants were assigned to one four experimental situations derived from the combination between the variables: modality of fiction (interactive or non-interactive) and content (happy or tragic ending).     Modeling the breakdown spots in silicon dioxide films as point contacts

    Experiments and simulations are combined to demonstrate that the hard dielectric breakdown of thin SiO2 films in polycrystaline silicon/oxide/semiconductor structures leads to the formation of conduction paths with atomic-size dimensions which behave as point contacts between the silicon electrodes. Depending on the area of the breakdown spots, the conduction properties of the breakdown paths are shown to be those of a classical Sharvin point contact or of a quantum point contact

    Comparison between gadolinium-enhanced 2D T1-weighted gradient-echo and spin-echo sequences in the detection of active multiple sclerosis lesions on 3.0T MRI

    Objectives To compare the sensitivity of enhancing multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions in gadolinium-enhanced 2D T1-weighted gradient-echo (GRE) and spin-echo (SE) sequences, and to assess the influence of visual conspicuity and laterality on detection of these lesions. Methods One hundred MS patients underwent 3.0T brain MRI including gadolinium-enhanced 2D T1-weighted GRE and SE sequences. The two sets of contrast-enhanced scans were evaluated in random fashion by three experienced readers. Lesion conspicuity was assessed by the image contrast ratio (CR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR). The intracranial region was divided into four quadrants and the impact of lesion location on detection was assessed in each slice. Results Six hundred and seven gadolinium-enhancing MS lesions were identified. GRE images were more sensitive for lesion detection (0.828) than SE images (0.767). Lesions showed a higher CR in SE than in GRE images, whereas the CNR was higher in GRE than SE. Most misclassifications occurred in the right posterior quadrant. Conclusions The gadolinium-enhanced 2D T1-weighted GRE sequence at 3.0T MRI enables detection of enhancing MS lesions with higher sensitivity and better lesion conspicuity than 2D T1-weighted SE. Hence, we propose the use of gadolinium-enhanced GRE sequences rather than SE sequences for routine scanning of MS patients at 3.0T.
